Know Your Writing Markets 06

By Kellie Gillespie

I recently applied for and received a passport for the first time in my life, and already I have used it twice: once to visit the Cayman Islands on a vacation, and once for my son's wedding in Bogota, Colombia. Aside from Mexico and Canada, I have never been abroad until last year, but now I've caught the travel bug. Recently, my husband and I sat down and made a list of the places we'd like to visit before we got old or died, whichever came first. Then we ranked them in order of preference. First place? Australia. My husband has wanted to go there since he was a boy, so this is on the agenda for May of 2007. I can't remember the second place we planned on visiting, and I'm not even sure where we stashed the list, but it doesn't really matter. I'm sure we will enjoy the excuse to dream about our next vacation when the time comes. After all, have passport, will travel!

Travelogues and travel articles are always in demand, so make some reservations, keep track of your expenses in order to take them off your taxes, and write about your experiences for these travel magazines.

This quarterly magazine is 90% freelance written and covers wholesome family nude recreation and travel locations. It examines the reasons that many people feel that removing clothes in public is a positive thing, and at places specifically designed with this in mind, earnestly and with good humor. "Travel Naturally nude recreation takes you to places where your personal freedom is the only agenda, and to places where textile-free living is a serious commitment." Nonfiction needs are general interest, interview/profile, personal experience, photo feature, and travel. Length is two pages. Pay is $70 per page. They accept previously published submissions.

Tip: Sexual frivolities are outside the scope of this magazine. "Here the emphasis is on the many varieties of human beings, of all ages and background, recreating their most natural state, at extraordinary places, their reasons for doing so, and the benefits they derive."
