Haemorrhaged

By Ndaba Sibanda

The changes you seek to effect will
enhance the quality of life you seek.

They said poverty visited upon them
Could not assuage their sleep,
They had experienced brutality -- and
The beggars of votes were the culprits.
They claimed that their grief
Had no one to assuage them.

The citizens said never would
They assuage the egos of the
Selfish and destructive leaders.

Haemorrhaged by corruption
Obscene salaries are blind to
The social and economic hardships
The ordinary citizens are going through

They can dance on
the floor of poverty
Knowing very well
that they are being
Supported by those
who have the might
To halt it
Is this nation going
somewhere or nowhere?
Protection of looters
and offers highest
Political affliction is the
criteria for righteousness
Everything politicized
Kickbacks come first
The people come last
The reason corruption is
flourishing in the country.

"They can dance on the
floor of poverty..."
