The Ant Hills

By Isioma Jemimah Okonicha

Little ant and hills

Belittled by their physical features
Yet dangerous when approached

Not limited by their size
Their bite tears their victim

As they go in a hurry
They are not lazy

They gather their food in all season
Bent on building as they feed

Together they make a stance
Their mark a statement so strong

As they bury into their deepest search for
the earthly things
Leaving their victim in agony

Knowing fully well that they are all they've got
And so they stick together in unity

One not seen among humans
They do not perish singly

Instead they stand and fight off threat
Rejecting and pulling as they go

They can't be stopped
Their strength bigger than their size

This they know
And they're sure to use it

Attack! They do and fear not
As they waste no time

Little ants
So small but yet powerful.
