Delirious Dreams

By Yasmin Hemmat

Delirious Dreams

I had fallen into the deep inanition trance,
In my delirious dreams
I heard a murmuring of an icy voice,
"Rise,
Life is the death in
Disguise"
There was absolute darkness,
An interminable nothingness,
I heard the voice again,
"I'm the nameless man who lives in an endless night
Rise and come into that fright,
let me open the grave
See how life disappeared like a wave."
The grave had opened like a whimpering mouth,
And I saw the lugubrious lovemaking of the worms,
And I saw the melancholic clamours of the dead,
Suddenly an invisible corps surrounded me,
I could hear the sombre screams,
The ghastly heaves,
"This is the downfall of life
Without the help of a scythe or knife"
The tombs were closed,
The voices were suffocated,
And the shadows of the grave embraced me
With enormous tenebrous wings.
