Betrayal

By Pranab Ghosh

Betrayal

Your touch, always skin deep and so your betrayal
Your love, always skimming and so your betrayal

I saw the river within my soul drying up
And felt the gnawing of your love and betrayal

You did sweep through my veins like molten gold
And my heart went numb and bones cracked; your betrayal

I watched you swim through your dream handholding ...
It was not me, not me, not me ... it's betrayal

I woke up alone to find you floating away ...
Away, Away ... far, far away; it's betrayal

Drifting in your dream, away from your soulmate
Through the Arabian desert, following ...; it's betrayal

You were following your lost love, your lost childhood ...
And I went on sinking, flesh rotting...; it's betrayal!

I exhaled a breath from the depths of my navel ...
And then dissapeared alone from love's abode ... it's betrayal ...

And you thought I accused you ..., you alone ...
Adam accused all ... myself, you, world ... of betrayal!
