Bananas, Lemons, and Ice Cream

By Peter A. Witt

Bananas, Lemons, and Ice Cream

I am sure this poem had a topic
but, sorry, I forgot what it is,
perhaps it will come to me
in a midnight dream, or perhaps
I'll find a hint on a piece of paper
that I can't remember where
I put it, or maybe the dog
ate it, though I don't remember
if he's alive or dead, oh well,
at least I wrote something
down that makes sense,
though I'm sure I was
supposed to be composing
my grocery shopping list.
