Evergreen

"...We are the natural touch of winter..."

Evergreen

We are the blanket of soft fur
held sweetly in each other’s good grace

We are the fabric of life
unfolding intwined

We are the natural touch of winter
arriving to cleanse the palette of flesh

We are the naked branches of pine and ash
displaying ribs fitted by ancestral instinct

We are the eager roots burrowed under
churning to kiss a new cycle awake

We are the black orbs of owls
enlightened by fever through darkness

We are the fructose bliss of citrus
liquifying sunshine within cellular coding

We are the holographic shard of a wink
synchronized between soul and source

We are the harmonized scale of solstice
balanced with heart, feather, and ankh

The importance of trees, so beautifully personified by Scott. His verses connect us with the spiritual essence of trees.
