White Lamp Lights

By John Swain

White Lamp Lights

You brooklet silver water
beside night trees
on the lavender mountain,
the moon fades into your veil
like a white lamp
lights behind the pearl sky,
you fill a crystal vial
with scented oil
to infuse a paper flower,
you ornament the source,
you release the still voice
into our mouths
like a globed scroll,
you measure towers of air,
the perfume of smoke is illusion,
the amethyst canticle is your kiss.
