NaNoWriMo 2006: Writing Some Words on November Evenings

By Cheryl Haimann

Writing Some Words on November Evenings

What month this is I think I know.
The pools are closed, it soon will snow.
November's thirty days are when
It's time for NaNoWriMo, yo.

The sign goes on the table, then
Take out your notebook and your pen,
And if you find yourself in doubt,
Write monkey notes -- write one, or ten.

When sluggish plot lines make your pout,
It's time to give a ninja shout,
And squeeze a toy so you don't weep
Until some new ideas pop out.

The goals are set, the challenge steep,
But you have write-in dates to keep,
And 50 K before you sleep,
And 50 K before you sleep.
