In Pursuit of a Fugitive Man

By Ndaba Sibanda

In Pursuit Of A Fugitive Man

Her steps -- slow, exploratory
The ground a bit sleepy, slippery

Feeling low, lousy and unloved
Dawdling, doubting, a slow glow

Dawn stirred with its smiling rays
Behold blurry, sinewy figures

At night the skies had leaked --
Puddles she circumnavigated

He sought to be taught a lesson
To be caught groping for delight

Scrubbing sleepiness from her sockets
She arrived only to see her alone, unruffled
