One Dog Then
two
then three
in the bark of
early morning,
then the roosters
the roofers
next door
their radio turned up
loud
then cars
going-by and
multiplying;
the alien voice
of the radio
speaks to the neighborhood
but not to me
sitting in a doorway
on the 2nd floor
across the way,
warm sun on
my cold flesh.
