Stiff

I pulled every muscle in my legs
the first week of
jogging
around the cemetery
but have shaped-up since
ran good today
though some guy
with a black wolf hound
who would not obey
ran among the grave stones
and after me
its head high as my belly
the owner chased it down
finally put a leash on,
the dead had nothing to
say about it
or anything else,
they lay silent
like stiffs
and far from any care
about some damn dog
and its jackass owner.
