I ate a crab today, a blue crab, raw, freshly
caught on the beach, as a dare. It's not nice
or appropriate to kill a crustacean without
boiling water, dropping it in all in one swift
movement, not thinking about it too much;
that it might have a family, a mate, baby
crabs that still need a bit of tending; that
you might have enabled it to by-pass an
important link in the food web; that you
might ingest a parasite that can make you
suffer for the rest of your life. Maybe it
would serve you right.
