Room Temperature

By Ivan Jenson

Room Temperature

When morning feels
more like evening
and wine tastes like water
then you know
something is thinning
like the hair of a
middle-aged man
and so you walk in rain
on a sunny day
knowing that
there is a chill
to the end of summer
that hints at the fall
which always leads
to winter's grip
when you know
that all you do
like your footsteps
in the snow
will melt like streams
leading to rivers
and finally to the ocean
you see, everything
is as it seems
during this emotion
and it is getting late
almost time to go
home on the range
under the acid rain
this is your own personal
climate change
