Canuri's Enchantment

By Isioma Jemimah Okonicha

Canuri's Enchantment
I will conquer that replaceable habit.

Dear Canana, how have you being?
Did you go to the safe house I told you about?
I already prepared the key lock
I surrogated the edges too
Yes I did tell you to wait
Because all will be well remember
I wish you'd listened but you hadn't
Why had I asked you to hold onto the casing?
If I didn't know it was going to shine brightly.

Canana I warned you, didn't I
I knew you'll take my word for granted
And now you're stuck
But now I ask that you stay tuned
Give me a chance I pray thee
Wait for me till I write to you again
But this time in a fierce tune.

Why do you joke around so easily?
Why did you refuse to stay put
And now you are strained
See what you're going through
Had you listened to the cool breeze I called
You wouldn't be singing through this pain of yours
So now wait till I come
I will conquer that replaceable habit of yours
My dearest Canana

Canana
I lied to you I know
I didn't say the truth when I had the chance
Yes I deceived you
If only I knew, I would have opened up
I know I've hurt and betrayed your trust
But do forgive me my dear
I couldn't wait, it was selfish I know
Now go ahead dear Canuri
I will be right behind you

Canuri
Go ahead ... you say
Right behind you ... you say

Canana
Oh no, remember you said that I wouldn't lose
You trusted my guts
Because you'd hoped that I wouldn't tell a lie
Am sorry I can't repeat the last word I said
That'd given you hope.
I will make it easy for you this time
I know I've denied you life's best chances
And now I deserve to suffer
Good byes Canuri
But always remember
I am Canana the scape goat.

Canuri
How dare you give up on me, I said I will try
I will do all it takes I'd promised, but now what?
You're going away
Leaving everything you endured
You're a fighter am sure you are
I've watched you fight your ego
You've fought life itself
But now just with a little wind you're giving up
Dear Canana please stay, together we'll conquer
I only need you to be on track
Follow my rightful path
Then you'll soar that's all it takes.

Canana
How can I believe you?
When i don't believe in myself
Please understand my plight.

Canuri

I know, and I try to have a glimpse of who you are But please hold on
I will go ahead at once to fetch the stew
And together we'll dine on the king's giant table
I only need some time
My dear, please don't go far
I will be calling on you
I give you my word
Give me yours too I pray thee
I bid you farewell now
Till the sun brings us closer again
I look forward to seeing a brighter you
Dear gracious Canana.
