Paths

By John Tustin

Paths

Every step, afraid to make
I fear what I will find
All the paths that I can take
Will always lead behind

Moving forward anyway
Relying on my will
Today is just like yesterday
The same as standing still

All the paths they lead nowhere
With nothing in the light
Here is just the same as there
The day is just the night

Every step I walk alone
The candor in my mind
Like carrying a heavy stone
That makes me lag behind
