Another Step to the Limits

By Fabrice Poussin

Another Step to the Limits

Clad in a light armor of silk and precious stones
she took another daring step upon the blue ice
her skin fair battered by frigid torments.

She imagined visons of burning dunes
lush meadows scarred by nurturing torrents
sliding farther into the voracious glacier

Her luscious crest of blond waves merged with the ether
statuesque as the last Amazon she towered
seeming conqueror of lands privy only to the bravest.

Content as she surrendered to unknown realms
her bare feet touched a gentle surface
turning to the north a tunnel of light revealed.

Perhaps it was the penultimate gate
entrance to the chamber of the secrets of the universe
so revealed in what may no longer be a dream.
