Superman Strength

By Luis Cuauhtemoc Berriozabal

Superman Strength

He got the Superman strength
flying high inside his mind,
saving burning babies in
high rises, and bending
steel with his own bare hands.

He took some pill that made
him feel this way and now he
thinks he is an Avenger.
He says he is going to make
a movie and get paid like a star.

He punched a wall and broke
his hand. He cried and cried all
the way to the hospital. Wiped
all his tears with his cape and
asked for another superhuman pill.

I've been reading your poems for a while now. I have decided you are a compassionate magician, kindly wrapping our homely human foilables in an illusion of beauty while discreetly pointing out our nudity.
