Women of the Church

By Richard D. Hartwell

Women of the Church

Watching the old, bent women of the church,
Martyrs to the mundane matters of the world,
Shrunken only by the sun and their earthly wear,
Expansive in their spirituality and earned merit,
Bound for Heaven’s high reward --
As the Priest uses a stepstool,
Centering the Crucifix above the altar.
