Only Yesterdays Are Truly Splendid

Only Yesterdays Are Truly Splendid

I met yesterday
In the fading darkness of early dawn
Goodbye
Farewell
We won’t meet again
Yesterday paused
And then whispered
I’ll remain…
In haunting melodies
As your poetry
In dark clouds
As unending downpours
On scorched dry leaves
Drifting paperboats
Of childhood years…
In your smiles and sighs
And the love you lost…

I never return…
For I never leave
