Neon Glow

By Jiel Narvekar

Neon Glow

In this city, no one knows.
Cars go past and the wind she blows.
Just the neon signs, they glow.

Friends pretend to care, typing xoxo.
In strange arms, find rest and confide.
In this city, no one knows.

The rain beats down, the puddles they grow.
Outside and within, potholes open wide.
Just the neon signs, they glow.

To be seen, you need to put a show.
Rehearse the lines and abide.
In this city, no one knows.

The night ends, yet your words echo.
Half-truths and feeling implied.
Just the neon signs, they glow.

You play the hand that came your way,
The city folds you day by day.
In this city, no one knows.
Just the neon signs, they glow.
