Rumble in the Jungle

By Scott Waters

Rumble in the Jungle

Svelte ears twitching

golden eyes flickering
 with intent
 to kill

tongue curling
 at the foretaste
 of human leg

black nose a complex dance
 of finely calibrated receptors

hair spiked along the spine

the ruthless 12 pound predator
 waits

for the rumble

of the Amazon truck

I wonder which came first, the beautiful picture or the beautiful poem. A nice way to explore the inner world of a cat/pet/buddy, or maybe it was somebody else's cat/pet/buddy... which doesn't change the beauty of the exploratory journey of the writer/storyteller...
Nice.
