I got a rejection letter

and I was going to write a poem
after getting it to say
it would be refreshing
if an editor
would drop the condescending
"we enjoyed these poems
but felt they were not for us at this time"
stock letter nonsense
with the name penciled in
and just finally write
"these were shit"
in big
fuck off capitals
because somehow
I'd respect that.

but then I thought
maybe
I'm just
that good
that I dodge
the "these were shit"
letters.
I hope so.
otherwise
I've been submitting emotion
in poetry
to some spineless wanks
who don't have enough
to show any
back to me.
