Allure

"...when Broadway had undimmed bright lights..."

Allure

Smirking at ambition
we tamed desires’
sleight of hand.

Shadow dancing back
when Broadway had
undimmed bright lights.

Her mirrored shades
hid piercing turquoise eyes
vodka could not dilute.

A wicked past
replayed in dreams
she let me wander through.

A jazz score in background
playing twice as as fast
till we spun out of control.

Having lived in stolen moments
we didn’t know had a price
till it was long over.

Allure she had called it
before it all vanished
and now there is just…

This fall from past grace
into the arms of others
where I see just her.
