Autumn Leaf

"...Seasons and time come and go..."

Autumn Leaf

Take the autumn leaf
from my hand before
winter comes tomorrow.
Seasons and time come
and go, back and forth,
just like us. From the
window I watch the rain
fall. I extend my hand
with the autumn leaf.
Please take it. Isn’t it
lovely? It is yellow and
orange, red and brown,
with a green stem turning
white. It is wet and soft.
The lines on it look
like a map. I wonder
where they will lead if
you follow the lines.
Did I not mention
tomorrow is winter?
