Collateral Damage

"... a responsibility that isn't mine..."

Collateral Damage

White Tesla merges onto freeway–
a doubt metastasizes into fear.

I stay away from trucks
that transport cars to dealerships.

Any body that carries so much
has a responsibility that isn't mine

to bear. So when the inevitable–
a harness loose, a flying Fiat

Abarth into asphalt–
happens, I have nothing

but my lopsided telescope
eyes to witness

the implosion of capitalism–
all glass, steam, and rage.
