Into the Unknown

Almustapha Umar, a Nigerian poet based in Jalingo Taraba state, a member at Newborn Poet Forum and Hill-top Creative Arts Foundation Taraba chapter.

Into the Unknown

Light is closed in!
How long can living flesh endure
where even sunlight fears to tread?

Darkness took me and I strayed out of living and time
Every second was as long as the age of Earth
Along the path knowledge ended, grief began
I 'd gone as far as I possibly could.

But it was not the end
Frost shots pierced & cold ran down my veins and somethingβ€”a passing wind drew my gaze

There was Sleep with her chariot ready to take me home
Fear struck me, and I snapped back to reality.
It was all just a dream!?
