To Fade Away

...a reverie with the potential to reveal something ...

To Fade Away

I had myself a great vivid dream,
a reverie with the potential
to reveal something
of first-rate importance.

Within a sea rife with painted stationary corals,
exhibiting a range of warm and rich colors,
an inner world was enduring.

Above, a form that may be the sun,
its inner core ablaze,
and many other things that shone,
lamps for both the day and night.

There then seemed little doubt
the fade had begun,
that world took on the form of simplistic composition,
becoming increasingly more plain,
like the most basic drawn forms.

In the distance was one tall tower-like form,
if I could reach it,
clarity would remain,
and the magnificent details
of sea and light would share their meaning.

But the dwindling images
continued to lose complexity.
I can now only recall them
with broken thought.

As the last dissolved,
It became apparent upon waking
that in spite of listening in that panorama,
sadly the message
would forever be utterly unknowable.
