The Human Comedy

"...a breathful being dawning into light..."

The Human Comedy

After discovering you’re
a breathful being dawning into light
a quarter-capable being able to grasp rattles and blocks
a semi-capable being able to balance on a bike
a lo-and-behold sexual being with functioning apparatus
a dome of pleasure
a desiring body
a double helix of loneliness and companionship
a fecund progenitor
a cog in a machine
a pillar of propriety
a golden watch
a font of advice for bikers and cogs
a semi-capable being drowsy from contemplation
a quarter-capable being able to grasp lotions and pills
a breathless being fading into night—
you discover death owns your punchline.
