Solitude

By Nisha Raviprasad

Solitude

A rose
bloomed in my garden today
basking in the drizzle
of this June dawn.
Beautiful is it's hue
the fragrance bathed in petrichor.
the wind is only a whisper
in my ear.
A faint murmur of solitude
in my heart
the distant melody of an old song and the tired
rambling of the Indian train
I withdraw
into silence...
that floods my home...
into the quietude of a storm
hushed beneath.
