My Sister Never Rests

"My sister’s a chair..."

My Sister Never Rests

My sister’s a chair
Victorian wingback

Stiff with tension
from too many needs

She’s a Stratolounger
with spots of dried dog pee

A Saatva Logan chair
all puffed up with pedigree

A La-Z-Boy high-leg recliner
which she never gets to use

A Renata Slate lounge chair
which she never gets to use

A modern Catalonia lounge chair
that she never gets to use

An Amish Colonial 9-spindle
dining chair which hurts her back

A simple kitchen chair
with a three-inch pad…

Perfect.

John, you are the man. John Donne, Emerson, etc. move over. The newest poet laureate has arrived! Congratulations!
