Selfdom

"...when Life plays along in the key of me..."

Selfdom

The one thing that you have, that nobody else has, is YOU – Neil Gaiman

I tend to look at the world through
me-tinted lenses.
I like it too when Life plays along
in the key of me.
It’s nice when things sing of you,
when they resonate with you
in the broader sense.
You with me?

Although, it’s not all about me—
it’s a big world out there and
it can’t all be about me—
but I prefer my corner of it to be
mostly self-… let’s say focused.
Is that so bad? Maybe, if I was.
Badness needs to do unto others.
Me, not so much.
I’ve carved out a me-shaped hole—
  not exactly a metopia but…—
and all I ask is that
you leave me be;
let me lie in it until I die in it
  [chuckles]
surrounded by mes and mines.
Mmm. Mes and mines. Nice.
