Coming Out and Owning Up
Most of our assumptions have outlived their uselessness – Marshall McLuhan
It’s so like the gay thing.
Y’know, the thing when
you discover this bloke’s
“into” other blokes and
you assume he wants to
jump into bed with every
bloke he sees.
Well, when people learn
I’m a poet they instantly
think I fancy every text
with a ragged edge and
have Simon Armitage on
speed dial because, like,
“’E’s one o’ yous lot,”
and, y’know, it’s not like
that at all, not remotely.
Apart from me wanting to
fuck with your head. Cos,
yeah, I pretty much want
to do that with everyone
I meet.
