Dove Tree

"...day has spilled light over the skies..."

Dove Tree

There’s a tree full of doves
breakfasting on berries,
chirping peace as mynahs
too feast. A squirrel leaps.

It’s morning. The day has
spilled light over the skies.
Clouds only contain the sun
till it rises higher beyond reach.

The sun’s reflection shimmers
on waves a band of gold.
The sun is unreachable, but
its light nurtures life on earth.
