The Dullest Footsteps

"...they leave Bach deader than he’s ever been..."

The Dullest Footsteps

Drinking more imaginary whisky
by letting a violin partita pour
me my next drink
because Monday to Friday
are the dullest footsteps
trying to fool us
into believing they’re a dance,
but they leave Bach deader
than he’s ever been,
while co-workers talked
politics or argued football scores
without realizing how far
we’ve strayed away
from the truest music.
