For the first Time

"...I wait for your reaction..."

For the First Time

Tonight,
you can remove
my stitches,
all the threads,
every staple,
and expose
the scars
that came
after the wound.

I wait
for your reaction
to what you
uncover
and if you
do not stay
I will surely
understand
your decision.

Tonight,
I will cherish
the moment.
I will cherish
the freedom
I will feel
whether you
go or whether
you will stay.

Night fades
as the veil
is removed.
Stare me down.
Am I the one?
If the answer
is yes, tonight,
I have won
for the first time.
