Love's Gaze

"...Treacherous fate made its way inside..."

Love’s Gaze

Love’s gaze lingered
at dusk in the miniscule
faces of gnats floating
in the empty bed that
lovers no longer share.
It was destiny that drove
them apart. They spent
days, weeks, months,
and years in that bed
they no longer share.
Treacherous fate made
its way inside each other’s
hearts, breaking it like
glass, leaving the shards
all over the floor. All that
was left was love’s gaze
blending in with the dust
of light shining through
an open window where
the gnats came in through.
