Sub-Zero

"...Rolled in this morning with the tempest churning..."

Sub-Zero

I broke today
it was a southern storm
that happens every decade or so
takes us down
quietly
but expected

Rolled in this morning
with the tempest churning
that beast within
silent no more

Wreckage honey wreckage

Is what remains after
the wind dies down

But the breaking is not my hand alone I swear it
y’all know when I say I was pushed to the brink
I didn’t just show up guns smoking
smashing the shore like holy Jesus

I didn’t plan on it
but……there were signs
there are always signs
I would list the triggers to you
and you’d laugh a good hearty laugh
as if I’m such a weakling to break
by my own hand

There’s a self-destruct button within us all
for some it’s a suicide
others it’s a needle
or a fist
it’s all the same I tell you this in raw honesty

A storm is a storm
and a broken human is a broken human

Yet the sun will come up again and warm the planet
and the tide will settle itself
for those of us who survive
