Answered Prayers

"...Our discernment may be required..."

Answered Prayers

Prayers we send up to the Lord
Aren't always answered in accord
With the response the heart desires,
Our discernment may be required.

If the silence breaks with an assent,
It's a sacred, blessed event.
Give gratitude for the request
Being granted at the Lord's behest.

There are times where we'll have to wait,
This will likely indicate
The proper time has not yet come,
Or further growth is to be done.

There could be a mountain to climb,
Yet the peak will be reached in due time.
Strengthen patience and bolster faith,
The outcome will be worth the wait.

When shadows cloak the Father's face,
Remember in His divine grace
That the Lord has the wherewithal
To shield from harm which would befall.

Or we might need to deviate
From the path which we thought was straight.
A route that winds around the bend
Still leads us safely to the end.

Though it may seem He's turned away,
Trust in His wisdom when we pray.
The Lord knows how to intercede,
And how to give us what we need.
