If There Is Hunger, There Is God

"...Hunger has no age..."

If There Is Hunger, There Is God

He fills his stomach to satisfaction
many times a day,
yet colorless hunger returns,
as the moon and sun return.

For one, the end of hunger is death.
People die, eventually,
but hunger remains.
Hunger has no age.
The body is mortal; hunger immortal.
The bodiless soul feels no hunger.

Ways to quench
the fire of the belly are hard.
It is satisfied,
only to grow unsatisfied again,
into hundreds of hungers.

Hunger is everywhere, godlike.
God knows this --
if hunger did not exist,
no one would remember Him.
Hunger is an eternal truth.
If there is hunger, there is God.
