Grandson Limericks
There once was a grandson so mellow,
The sweetest and cutest young fellow
He brightened my days
In his own charming way
My cuddly little marshmallow
The little munchkin would race
With nothing at all in its place
Till one curious day
His puppy ran away
And he chased it in the same state
He often raided the cookie jar
Though the shelf was ever so far
“I didn’t!” he cried
But the crumbs couldn’t hide
They’d stay parked on his cheeks, like stars
Now he’s a grown boy, all of ten
Far too big for his little playpen
Oh! How I yearn
for that sweet return
when he’d nap on my chest now and then
And when he’s a man with silver sideburns
And makes all the girls’ heads turn
And I’ll be beyond reach
Yet, watching him from my perch
As usual, Grandma, full of concern
The sweetest and cutest young fellow
He brightened my days
In his own charming way
My cuddly little marshmallow
The little munchkin would race
With nothing at all in its place
Till one curious day
His puppy ran away
And he chased it in the same state
