Entrances and Exits
I remember
The latch drop
The sticky fingers
On the frame
The dog scratches
The slam and then the shush
‘She’s sleeping now.’
For those at either end of life.
The cold that would
Come in with the milk bottles
And go out with the sun lounger
The bathroom door that never locked
‘Just whistle and I promise
That you won’t be disturbed.’
