Civilizing

So many warships, so much artillery,
civilizing is expensive.

But if we don’t blitz the bejeezus
out of these backward planets,
then they’ll never emerge from their particular stone age.

If we don’t slaughter them in their millions,
they’ll have no concept of true liberty,
no respect for the rule of law.

Without our bombardment from above,
they won’t mature as a race,
embrace science and technology,
build up their own military,
their own giant killing machines.

This total massacre could be the first step
in their evolution to a master race.
They could learn from all this carnage,
create weapons vastly superior to our own.

Yes, we butcher them now.
But it’s all a learning experience.
Someday, they may bombard Earth.
We can learn a lot from that.
