Fire or Flames

I asked myself if this was really a fire?
I mean the flames lapped over the house
And the fire was warm
What was this creation of mine exactly?

But it wasn't like I wanted to live here any more
Is fire something that warms us?
Or flames something that
Engulfs our world?

The trucks rattled in the distance
Sirens responding to a call
I wandered off slowly
Savoring the end of my world.
