Slither

"...in search of a rat beneath moon's dim light..."

Reptile moves through
weeds, in search of a rat
beneath moon's dim light.

New York thin, high heels,
carry a fifty-two hundred
dollar python purse.

Six writhing snakes slide
over, under, around each other
in an orgy for hours.

Millions skinned alive yearly,
rodent populations in rural
African villages explode.

Jaws open wide to suck
slowly in a victim whole,
lidless eyes stare.
