There Is No Light

"...It's just lunchtime but way past dark..."

There Is No Light

There is no light
within our sphere.
The stars, the night
all disappear.

No birds to sing,
no locusts chant,
what life could bring,
today it can't.

The pets decline
to beg or bark.
It's just lunchtime
but way past dark.

Twilight gives
a futile gasp,
for nothing lives
and nothing last.
