"...a hand at every throat a knife for every back..."

US

A day twisted by belligerent weather
Squall force bluster dims the sky

Twitter storm litters the airways
with noxious remains and aftershocks

A misanthropic mood rules the land
a hand at every throat a knife for every back

Nature's disasters compete fiercely
with our self-inflicted destruction

Voices raised in self-righteous Gospels
conflict with chants of self-defense

Civil War dances in our dreams and our nightmares
the stock market thrives and drives on our discontent

The enchanted abyss beckons and calls
we lust for and fall into her welcome darkness

Only to be confined in a segregated pit
Rancid red to the right and vicious blue to the left
