Thou Shall Wait

"...The same flock with their archaic hymn..."

Thou Shall Wait

They claimed to be listening
To the same defective tune
It was a discordant long playing disc
The cabinet pick had tongues wagging
The same flock with their archaic hymn
Some said it was the same old phone
With a new ring tone and a failing battery

Some guiltless souls
Reeled from celebrations
To utter disappointment
As deadwood was recycled
Their names were a scratchy track
It was a resurrected façade and face
Of people's patronage and entitlements
