"...I never understood what I was asking for..."

Looking Back

I said to myself one day I would be a great writer.
I had everything.

My looks weren't harsh as they are now.

I was lazy I thought it was love.
I told myself she would be my wife.

That when time found me to be whatever great writers are.
I would share this life with her.

I now know the page.
My body has failed me my soul flew the coop long ago.

She is gone.
You cannot have happiness and greatness in the same room.

Happiness is for people that want nothing for themselves.

The selfish willing to pay the price never grasp what that truly is till,
When broken they stand battle worn empty inside.

You can never hold greatness and happiness together.

I never understood what I was asking for.

Now I truly know
