Henri Matisse Never Painted the Chicken Dance

Ever watch the art gallery crowd trounce through a visit?
It's like a troupe of horny boy scouts chasing after badges and missing the fire.
Those clumsy dumb feet in unison.

And the few that stand in front of a single picture
with their hand to their chin
hoping someone will see them.
Discover them like a new element on the periodic table.
It is theatre, nothing more.

If you love the work
it comes out in the startled way
you breathe.

Not for anyone else,
but just for you.
